'Finding Dory,' The 'Finding Nemo' Sequel, Details Revealed By Ellen DeGeneres & New Gang At D23 — ‘I Knew I Had Another Story,’ Director Says

"Finding Dory," The "Finding Nemo" sequel Ellen DeGeneres has been waiting for is finally in the works! In the recent Disney's D23 Expo, the famous talk show host stood on stage and unveiled not just the upcoming Pixar film, but also, her new ocean gang.

DeGeneres announced "Finding Dory" on stage with cast Ed O'Neil, who will voice an octopus (more like a septopus because he's missing one tentacle) named Hank; Kaitlyn Olson, who will be voicing Destiny — a  whale shark who apparently is confused by her own identity; and Ty Burrell, who will voice Bailey, a beluga whale.

Diane Keaton and Eugene Levy will be playing Dory's parents. Nemo's dad, Marlin, will be voiced by Albert Brooks.

It took twelve years for Pixar to do the sequel. Andrew Stanton, director of "Finding Nemo," thought that the story was a "closed circuit," but he remembered that little fish with short-term memory problems.

"I wanted to know that if this charming forgetful fish ever got lost again, that she would be okay, that she would find her way home," Stanton said, as per Entertainment Weekly's report.

"And at the end of 'Finding Nemo,' I wasn't confident about that," he continued. "So that's when I knew I had another story."

The "Finding Nemo" sequel will center, this time, on Dory, who has been suffering from short-term memory loss. Having a vague recollection of her family, she decided she must go and find them, USA Today learned.

She ended up in an ocean sanctuary facility which treats wounded animals and releases them back into wild once they are well. This is where she met her new ocean squad.

One clip showed Dory meeting Hank, who's afraid of going back to the ocean and seeks comfort from an aquarium tank in Cleveland, Ohio. According to MTV, "Finding Dory" definitely kept the charm and humor of "Finding Nemo" intact.

"Finding Dory" is currently filming. Information from IMDb shows the new movie is slated to be released on June 17, 2016.
