Are Samsung’s Gear S2 Smartwatch and Samsung Pay Enough To Beat Apple?

Over the past few months, the public saw Samsung's efforts in trying to beat Apple through its products.

This includes releasing high-profile devices at an earlier date during its Unpacked 2015 event.

But aside from the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and the Galaxy Note5, Samsung also has other new products that can rival Apple. These are the Gear S2 smartwatch and the new Samsung Pay service.

Going head to head against the Apple Watch, Samsung's Gear S2 will mark the company's latest entry into the wearable device industry. Unlike its previous smartwatches, the Gear S2 will be the company's first device with a round display, Komando reported.

Teased during Unpacked, the Gear S2's round design gives it a sleeker appearance than its predecessor, the Gear S. Although the company did not go into detail regarding the device, it is expected to run on an updated version of the Tizen operating system.

Samsung said it will officially launch the Gear S2 during the upcoming IFA 2015 event scheduled on Sept. 3, according to Slash Gear.

As for its other product, Samsung Pay is designed to provide users with an easier online payment method than the Apple Pay.

For one, retailers won't have a hard time adopting the new transaction service from Samsung since they don't have to upgrade their system, which many of them were required to do in order to utilize Apple Pay, CNBC has learned.

With more partner retailers, Samsung will be able to attract more consumers to its mobile payment service.

In addition, as part of its efforts to gain more supporters, Samsung Pay is only available for owners of the company's devices. So, if the popularity of Samsung Pay takes off, so will the number of Samsung smartphone users. However, if it doesn't, it could also end up affecting the sales of the company's mobile department.

Samsung's latest devices services are all part of its strategy to bounce back after a disappointing quarter. It has been previously reported that the brand loyalty of consumers to Apple has caused the smartphone sales of Samsung to drop.

With its latest releases and other methods, such as slashing the prices of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge devices, Samsung is hoping to regain bigger consumer support and become the leading provider of mobile products and services.
