Amanda Bynes Bipolar 2015 UPDATES: 'She's The Man' Star Making Progress Months After Public Meltdown Due To Mental Illness

Amanda Bynes Bipolar — The 29-year-old actress appeared to be making a lot of improvements these days since her well-publicized meltdown months ago, which was believed to be linked to mental health problems.

The former child star was photographed Monday hanging out with friends at a pool in the Studio City district of Los Angeles, donning a mismatched bikini and taking selfies by the water, Daily Mail reported.

Bynes, who is understood to be suffering from schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, has lain low for quite some time after being hospitalized and put on a psychiatric hold last year.

Her lawyer Tamar Arminak told FOX411, "she is doing extremely well and everyone is so proud of her."

She was also spotted on July 23 at the launch party of Project Runway star Michael Costello's pre-fall capsule collection in Los Angeles, according to FOX411. Bynes reportedly appeared to be happy and in good spirits as she makes a gradual return to the public eye.

The California-native made headlines last year after a series of shockingly inappropriate Twitter tirades coupled with a number of public mishaps.

In fact, it was Bynes who announced in the social media platform in 2014 that she "was diagnosed bi-polar and manic depressive so I'm on medication and I'm seeing my psychologist and psychiatrist weekly."

In October, she also took to Twitter to make allegations of abuse specifically by her father toward her. Bynes claimed her father verbally, physically and sexually abused her in a post that has since been deleted, CNN has learned.

Now, the blonde beauty hasn't tweeted in almost five months, which according to some experts is a sign that she is on the right track.

"It seems like when she is off of her meds... that's when Amanda needs media attention and offers up those crazy sound bites. When she is OK and balanced Amanda seems OK with stepping away from the spotlight and doing other things. She had enrolled in school and picked up some classes last year when she had stabilized so the pattern seems to be that if she's out of sight then she's holding her own," Pop culture expert Cate Meighan told FOX News.

Amanda Laura Bynes rose to international fame at the age of 10. In 1999, she landed her very own primetime Nickelodeon program "The Amanda Show" at the age of 13, as per IMDb. She is also known for her movies "She's the Man" and "Hairspray."
