Cristiano Ronaldo Net Worth: Real Madrid Star Splurges $18.5M For NY Trump Tower; Is He Joining The MLS?

Cristiano Ronaldo, the most expensive football player in history, is rumored to be planning on joining the MLS with reports speculating that he is preparing a home in America by splurging $18.5 million on a 2,509 sq ft studio in New York.

The Real Madrid star has purchased a flat in Manhattan's 57th tallest skyscraper — the Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue, which according to Trump.com is "still one of the most distinctive buildings in the world," The Guardian reported.

The website boasts that, "The residential condominiums comprise floors 30 through 68 and are considered one of the world's elite luxury residences, catering to public figures, athletes, celebrities and other affluent sophisticates."

By the description, it seems that the new property fits the 30-year-old soccer stud perfectly. After all, he can totally afford it.

The Portuguese footballer has an estimated net worth of $310 million, as per The Richest. He joined Real Madrid from Manchester United in 2009, for a transfer worth $132 million, making him the most expensive soccer player in the history of the sport. He currently plays as a striker or winger for the Spanish La Liga club Real Madrid and is the captain of the Portuguese national team. Cristiano is the second highest paid footballer (after Cameroonian striker Samuel Eto'o who plays for Russian team Anzhi Makhachkala) in any league with a $20 million annual income including bonuses.

Ronaldo is also the second highest earning soccer player (behind David Beckham) when it comes to endorsements, cashing in $22 million yearly from deals with Castrol, Nike and Konami among many others.

The Trump deal was inked Wednesday, and words are, the footballer is planning to join an MLS team when his contract ends in 2018, The Real Deal has learned. Many however, are arguing that Los Angeles is a likely destination for Ronaldo if he ever joins the MLS.

Meanwhile, the LAFC is reported to be "obsessed" with signing Ronaldo and is actually planning to pair him with Rooney, according to Los Angeles Sports Hub.

The duo is considered to be one of the most lethal tandems in the whole soccer spectrum when they played together for Manchester United back in the days, winning the Champion's League, Community Shield and their 17th EPL title in 2008.
