Christian Bale Is Auto Mogul Enzo Ferrari in Michael Mann's 'Ferrari' Biopic

Christian Bale is off for a new ride after his famous Batmobile as it has been reported that the former Batman actor will be playing the late car racer and designer Enzo Ferrari in an upcoming biopic.

Bale, 41, will be working again with director Michael Mann in the still untitled movie, which will document the rise of the Italian mogul.

Set in the 1950s, during which Ferrari was in his 50s, the film will also recall how the luxury vehicle named after its creator came to be one of the finest and most expensive cars in the world.

Mann's upcoming project is an adaptation of the 1991 book by Brock Yates entitled "Enzo Ferrari: The Man, The Cars, The Machine," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The new flick will be a reunion for the actor and director, who last worked together in "Public Enemies" (2009), wherein Bale portrayed FBI agent Melvin Purvis out to hunt bank robber John Dillinger (Johnny Depp).

Meanwhile, it seems that Hollywood has taken quite an interest on Enzo Ferrari's life story lately with actor Robert De Niro, who had also previously worked with Bale and Mann in "Public Enemies," revealing earlier this year that he also is working on a movie about the legendary car tycoon, Daily Mail reported.

Having directed Ferrari's California sports car's 2008 promotional video , Mann, who used to race in the Ferrari Challenge has a special attachment to the luxury Italian supercar. It is said that he's been working on the film for quite some time now, but it is only just recently that the film is being materialized.

Mann's biopic is aimed to attract buyers and financiers in the forthcoming Toronto and Venice film festivals, Entertainment Weekly has learned.

Bale on the other hand, is starring alongside Natalie Portman and Cate Blanchett on two independent Terrence Malik movies. His latest big screen appearance was in Ridley Scott's "Exodus: God And Kings," where he played biblical character Moses.

Enzo Ferrari, who also created the Scuderia Ferrari racing team, passed away at the age of 90 in 1988.
