'Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2' Slated For Multi-platform Release, Free DLC & New Features; Producer Teases More Surprises Coming To 'Garden Warfare' Sequel

It seems that two years of waiting for the sequel of "Plants Vs. Zombies" is worth the wait as game producer Kyle Duncan teased new and exciting stuff, which are coming to "Garden Warfare 2."

Duncan revealed, in an interview with GamingBolt at E3 that they had decided to have the DLC free of charge. He noticed that what's stopping the other shooter games from growing was segmented DLC.

He said that the idea of keeping the community intact is what's really important. They wanted to maintain the relationship that Popcap built with their fans, and the way to accomplish that is by providing the content updates for free.

Additional features will include head-to-head battle — one player can take the Zombie, the other player can take the plant. A split-screen and full 24 player AI matches can also be played, Duncan said.

Original maps are far from being re-featured, as Duncan confirmed that this time they are taking fans to a new world, with 12 brand new maps. He also teased about incorporating more customization, having character variants and adding six more classes to the original ones.

Duncan shared some insights on the Solo Play, Garden Ops and any other exciting features they haven't talked about yet.

"We're not really ready to talk about that mode yet, but you will see some familiar faces and new faces, there will be a couple of surprises," Duncan said about the Garden Ops feature.

While his response with regard to Solo Play was, "We're not talking about Solo Play yet and we have some other surprises in store. By the end of the summer I think there will be other secrets that we will talk about."

Though the game is still in the early development, Purebox found out the game's marketing department already kicked it off by posting a parody images of "Plants vs. Zombies" characters invading the world of "Mirror's Edge Catalyst," "Fifa 16," Halo 5: Guardians," "Unravel" and "Minecraft." (Well, those were cute!)

"Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2" will hit the market in multi-platforms, Forbes learned. Duncan confirmed that the game will be available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on the first day of release.
