"Big Bang Theory" fans are surely super excited for season 9 of the CBS' geeky drama given the events that happened in the finale of its eighth run. There are a couple of things they can expect to play out in the upcoming season, but below are the four remarkable things that they should anticipate when the show returns this fall.
1. The fate of Sheldon's ring following Amy's split
In season 8, Mayim Bialik's Amy decided to terminate their relationship saying that she wants to "step back and re-evaluate" things, many fans were left stunned since everyone's rooting for Amy and Sheldon to be an official couple on the show.
Actress Mayim Bialik was recently interviewed by ET Online, and she admitted that the cast, too, were surprised on how season 8 ended between Sheldon and Amy. "We were all shocked. I think there was an audible gasp by most of the cast. That's a big ending. It means a lot for the relationship, but also for the show in general," Mayim Bialik, who is recently under fire for visiting Israel, said.
Following their breakup, Sheldon took out a ring to the delight of fans. The big question now is whether or not Sheldon intends to propose to Amy. Show producers told Entertainment Weekly, "The fate of the ring Sheldon held at the end of the episode - and the fate of other rings - will be revealed."
2. Leonard and Penny as an endgame couple
Johnny Galecki's Leonard and Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting's Penny are so in love in the course of "Big Bang Theory" season 8, and fans can expect more exciting things to happen between the two when the show returns.
An episode in season 9 is entitled "The Matrimony Momentum," hence, fans are hoping that this could finally be the episode where the two characters will tie the knot. Kaley Cuoco also spoke with ET Online and this is what she has to say of Penny's relationship with Leonard: "Between Leonard and Penny... All the dreams came true for me."
3. Leonard's other woman
While fans are being teased about Leonard and Penny's possible wedding, there is still this undeniable fear that things will turn out negatively between the two, specially since Leonard has confessed to kissing another woman while they were still in a relationship. Some speculate that they might not exchange their wedding vows when they reach Las Vegas.
Moreover, the relationship between the two will once again be tested as actress Michelle Tang has been cast to play Leonard's other woman, Yahoo! TV has learned. Say what? It's not clear if she's out to destroy the romance between the two characters, but fans are hoping that her appearance will only strengthen the bond between Leonard and Penny.
4. The return of two notable characters
As per Entertainment Weekly and Cartermatt, two characters are returning in season 9 of "The Big Bang Theory," and they are none of other than Mary and Wyatt. Marry is the loving mother of Sheldon, while Wyatt is Penny's father. Actors Laurie Metcalf and Keith Carradine have already confirmed their return this season to play the two characters, respectively.
No details have surfaced as of late on their possible involvement in their kids' relationships. But fans are hoping that they will bridge the gap that the ongoing issues between their kids and their kids' partners are going to face when "Big Bang Theory" season 9 airs.
