Moto X 2015 DISAPPOINTING? CEO Reveals Apple Beating Company In Fingerprint-Scanning Technology Amid Pre-Orders Launch

Moto X 2015 is going to be available for pre-order this Wednesday, and the hype over Motorola's newest flagship device is at an all-time high. However, for some techie geeks out there who are craving for a fingerprint-scanning technology as part of the handset, you'll be disappointed to know that the sensor is not part of the device, and the CEO of the Schaumburg-based company has revealed why.

There is no denying that the fingerprint sensor is becoming more and more prevalent in the smartphone market, with giants Apple and Samsung basking under the glory of gracing their flagship devices with this scanning technology.

In an interview with Forbes, Motorola CEO Dennis Woodside revealed the reason behind the back dimple in the Moto X 2015 and the other Motorola releases since 2013. He said that the small dent was supposed to be for a fingerprint-recognizing feature, but they disregarded the idea of adding the biometrics feature after Cupertino-based giant Apple "bought the best supplier." Apple's fingerprint scanner, called Touch ID, has successfully made a huge buzz for its iPhone 5S and other new handsets that the reception from the market has been remarkable.

Nonetheless, despite the absence of the fingerprint scanner, Motorola's latest flagship, the Moto X 2015, is expected to get a lot of attention in the market with its outstanding specs and features. The Moto X 2015 or Moto X Pure Edition (known as Moto X Style outside the United States) is packing a lot of weight in terms of the hardware offerings it sports. The biggest Moto touchscreen smartphone is coming with a 5.7-inch display and it is powered by a Snapdragon 808 processor, according to Android Central.

The Moto X 2015 is rocking a 3,000 mAh battery and it comes with 3 GB of RAM, along with 16, 32 and 64GB internal storage variants. For consumers looking for more storage, the device does not disappoint since it has a microSD card slot for up to 128GB additional memory.

Previously it was announced that pre-orders of the device will commence on Sept. 3, Thursday, but The Verge has learned that the company has opted to launch pre-orders for the smartphone a day earlier. However, there is still no word on when the shipping of the customizable device, which is available starting at $399 in major wireless carriers, will begin.
