Microsoft Universal Skype Messaging Beta Released For Windows 10 Mobile — What's New?

Skype app will soon integrate the history of its Skype messaging with the SMS. It has been reported that Microsoft aims for a smooth communication experience among all kinds of devices, especially those with Windows 10.

In line with this, the company released the beta version of Universal Skype Messaging among Windows 10 Mobile Insider testers from the Windows Store.

The new messaging app was reportedly designed to replace the mobile's, running on Windows 10, default SMS app. According to The Verge, this will make the switching between SMS or Skype chat easier.

The existing SMS application will still remain on the phone, together with the Microsoft's beta app, Softpedia reported. This means that if the user decides to uninstall the new app, the existing app can be restored to its function.

Tagging along the previewed messaging beta app is the new Skype Video Preview. It will serve as a separate destination for video chats, just like Facetime on Apple gadgets.

Other than integrating the Skype messaging with SMS, the Universal Skype App will also feature integrated conversation history between Skype calls and phone calls, video calling, messaging, emoticons and audio calling, ZDNet has learned.

The description on this Microsoft's site mentioned the Skype built-in. The feature stated that it would enable the users to reach anyone who has the same application on iPhones, Androids and even PCs with just a few clicks, which conforms with the company's primary goal.

There were no official announcements from the company, so the public release of the application remains hazy.

Many tech-savvy individuals are expecting that the update will take place before the year ends.

Expectations were set that since it is technically still under testing, issues may occur; hence, the company's request for a feedback from the users — what's great about it and those that are needed to be improved.

The company stated that they will be collecting the new Skype preview logs, so that they can investigate and identify any related issues.
