iPhone 4 Price Drop Due To iPhone 5 Rumored September Release

In perhaps a preparation of some sort for something to succeed the current product, Apple is currently selling the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S for substantial discounted prices. The iPhone 4 is at a record low 49.99 and the iPhone 4Ss is as low as 149.99.

Those are the prices that Sprint is currently offering its customers. According to Macworld, price matches can be acquired by customers who mention the Sprint price and retailers such as, Target, Radio Shack, and Best Buy will agree to the phone's promotion.

According to TechBuffalo's Mark Hearn, not all stores in all regions appear to be honoring the deals. "Apple Store locations are price-matching iPhones, but results might vary by location," Hearn said.

Apple is known to rarely ever give consumers discounts on its products unless it is a university based discounts or company related, however putting the iPhones on sale ahead of a rumored fall launch for a taller, thinner, iPhone could increase sales of the iPhone 4's.

Apple Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook said that speculation over Apple's next big device may have hurt the sales of its current products, which grew at a slower rate than in previous quarters.

"There's a lot of speculation out there," Cook said. "It's difficult to sort out. But I'm fairly convinced based on what I've seen that there's an incredible amount of anticipation out there."

The iPhone 5 is rumored to be released sometime in September according to Tech reports.
