Tom Brady’s Deflategate Scandal Still Lingers? New England Patriots’ QB Now At War Against ESPN Over Unsubstantiated Spygate Reporting

Tom Brady is facing yet another Deflategate controversy, courtesy of an unsubstantiated ESPN report. Now, the New England Patriots and its famed quarterback are questioning ESPN's credibility over the highly publicized Deflategate scandal, which originated with Spygate.

On Tuesday morning, ESPN released a detailed investigative report regarding the Patriots' "Spygate" scandal in 2007. According to the report entitled, "Spygate to Deflategate: Inside what split the NFL and Patriots apart," current and former Patriots employees and over 90 league officials were interviewed as they delved into the details of the controversy.

The Patriots, however, slammed the report, claiming the story was false. The team also added the Spygate allegations have damaged the team's reputation over the years, USA TODAY's For The Win has learned.

"The New England Patriots have never filmed or recorded another team's practice or walkthrough," the Patriots' statement said, as per CBS Boston. "The first time we ever heard of such an accusation came in 2008, the day before Super Bowl XLII, when the Boston Herald reported an allegation from a disgruntled former employee. That report created a media firestorm that extended globally and was discussed incessantly for months."

"It took four months before that newspaper retracted its story and offered the team a front and back page apology for the damage done," the team added. "Clearly, the damage has been irreparable."

Meanwhile, since the Spygate scandal has been resurrected back again by ESPN after the ruling on the Deflategate controversy, the latest information could affect the legacy of NFL star Tom Brady, Forbes noted. Brady, who has been awarded a four-game suspension by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell but was overturned by a federal judge, is quite in an interesting position amid the scandals.

Since Brady has a close relationship with Bill Belichick, who was dubbed as the scandal's mastermind cheater, one can't help but wonder about his involvement in Spygate. Furthermore, the timing of Brady's success in relation to the alleged timeline of Belichick's recorded games is just too coincidental. And with Brady's potential yet unproven involvement, his legacy could be under fire again as proving his innocence when it involves his entire career, not just an isolated instance, could be much harder.

In other news, Tom Brady finally broke his silence about the Deflategate issue. And when asked about having any regrets, the famed NFL quarterback responded that it was a "tough question and pretty personal," NFL.com reported. Brady also denied that his marriage to Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen is currently on the rocks despite the incessant rumors, People revealed.

"We're in a great place, I'll just say that," Brady told Boston's WEEI 93.7 FM on Tuesday. "I'm a lucky man. I've been very blessed with support from my family and certainly her, and there's no bigger supporter that I have than her and vice versa. I've been very blessed to have an incredible relationship with my life partner, and I don't think anything will ever get in the way of that."
