Amazon is currently beefing up its full-time staff at its Chattanooga, TN distribution center prior to the company's normal operations of hiring more than enough help for the holiday Christmas season.
"We're hiring for hundreds of positions in Chattanooga to meet increased demand," said company spokeswoman Kelly Cheeseman. "We also expect to hire at our sites leading up to the holidays."
Amazon's increase in employment might be related to its announcement of its Kindle Fire Predecessor.
Heavy speculation is that Amazon will unveil a new version of its popular 7-inch Kindle Fire tablet, and if rumors prove true perhaps a larger screen tablet as well. Amazon is also expected to refresh its Kindle eBook readers, likely with a model to compete against the read-in-the-dark Barnes & Noble Nook with Glow Light.
The Verge tech site is reporting that Amazon could also announce, if not quite yet deliver an Android smartphone.
With the release of Apple's new iPhone just one week away the tech scene is currently buzzing more than an annoyed beehive as companies begin to introduce their tech heavyweights for the fight of technological dominance.
Not only does the fight for technological dominance prove beneficial for consumers as their variety of selection will increase within the upcoming months, but as companies continue to mass produce products and services they will need to hire more employees.
Hiring more employees to handle the mass flow of tech savvy traffic online and off should help push the economy into a more positive direction as the current unemployment rate is currently at a steady 8.3 percent.
