‘Halo 5: Guardians': Microsoft's Upcoming Game Receives Good Reviews Following Hands-on Experience


"Halo 5: Guardians," a first-person shooter game developed by 343 Industries, is slated to be released on Oct. 27, 2015. Apparently, this Xbox One exclusive game received some decent reviews from game critics, following hands-on experience.

"Halo 5: Guardians" developer reportedly created a Warzone, which is a huge combat mode with lots of players.

Warzone reportedly brought together 24 players — 12 for red and 12 for blue team — fighting on a multiplayer camp. Prometheans and Covenant forces' controlled A.I.'s were also present.

Each map has multiple bases, and a team can occupy any base by eliminating the A.I.'s guarding it. Taking the base gains a team some points, with a goal to reach 1,000, and the first team to get it wins.

The game's multiplayer mode caters to everyone, where a player can go after human enemies, take on bosses fight and defend bases. According to TechnoBuffalo, the mode itself it is fun.

The "Halo 5: Guardians" Warzone provides an endless variety, as per Venture Beat. This means that die-hard Halo gamers will not get bored of it.

The developer has also managed to deliver the 60 frames per second as promised. Following the test of all the three modes available, Eurogamer discovered that despite a lot of enemies and effects on the screen, there was an almost complete adherence to 60fps.

The site stated that 343 Industries took an approach similar to games like the "Rage," which was dynamic resolution. The site further explained that "Halo 5: Guardians" was able to consistently reach its frame-time objective by adjusting the resolution as per GPU load.

There were some issues mentioned, like compromising the image quality to deliver the 60fps objective, as well as texture filtering suffering because of the design choice. It was also noted that the Alpha effect operated in low quality.

Despite that, the site reported that the game looked good — the preview was based on the campaign stages and multiplayer modes tested thus far.

There are speculations that Microsoft aims to place "Halo 5: Guardians" as a major eSports franchise, and critics say that 60 fps is crucial. Whether it can be sustained throughout the game remains to be seen.
