Derrick Rose Suffers Another Major Setback

Derrick Rose has suffered another injury, again.

During regular practice by the Chicago Bulls, the former MVP got elbowed in the face by a teammate and now has a left orbital fracture, USA Today has learned.

According to team mate Jimmy Butler, "I didn't really see the play to tell you the truth," Butler said. "I know he went baseline drift, probably made a pretty athletic play. Hit the corner and then all I saw was him go down."

It was reported that Derrick Rose will undergo surgery on Wednesday, but, his return timetable has yet to be determined until after the procedure.

As reported by Page 2 Sports, it seems that Rose's bad luck isn't over yet as this is his 7th major injury ever since he tore his ACL back in 2012.

Rose's frequent injuries are sometimes attributed to his rather "aggressive" style of play; however, some of his supporters note that he should not be blamed as this is his effective way of playing and it even got him an MVP award.

It's also interesting to notice that the NBA is currently experiencing a rise of point guards with similar type of game. Among those players are James Harden, Kyrie Irving, John Wall and Russell Westbrook.

A source close to the Bulls said that there is still a possibility that Rose will be ready for the Oct. 27 opening game, the Chicago Tribune reported.

According to athletic trainer Jeff Stotts, players who "needed surgery following a facial fracture missed a minimum of five games and an average of 12 games."

And when Rose does indeed play in the season opener, expect him to wear a protective mask. Players who suffered a similar injury like Rajon Rondo and Russell Westbrook managed to return within the season.

It seems that the Chicago Bulls and its fans have to wait for Rose, again.
