Sony Xperia Z4v Release Date, Price & Review: Verizon’s Goon-Too-Soon Android Smartphone Prior Its Launch [VIDEO]

The Sony Xperia Z4v may be a promising android smartphone given its specs and features. Unfortunately, Verizon has decided to scrap its exclusive Sony device ahead of its launch. For people still interested in this Android handset, below are the things you need to know.

According to The Verge, the Sony Xperia Z4v was revealed in June and the device seemed promising given its promising hardware and features. The supposed-to-be Verizon handset was to sport a WQHD 5.2-inch screen that has 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution, surpassing that of the regular Z4's display resolution.

The Z4v was also expected to come with a Snapdragon 810 processor and a delightful 3GB of RAM, which could have made the device a quality performing smartphone.

Also anticipated was the presence of a 20-megapixel primary camera, a 3,000 mAh battery as per GSMArena, and wireless charging technology.

The device was previously announced to go on sale on its release date in August. However, due to some inevitable circumstances, Verizon pushed the release of the Android smartphone, which was not running on Marshmallow, to October.

Come October and we get this news that Verizon has cancelled the Sony smartphone without really giving a clear explanation or a reason for this move.

"Verizon will no longer be launching Xperia Z4v, however we are committed to supporting Sony Mobile's product portfolio and will support existing products. Sony is a strategic partner as we continue having ongoing discussions together as part of our future portfolio," Verizon said.

The cancellation is an additional setback for Sony since the company has been struggling to up its presence in the U.S. market in the recent years.

In a statement, Sony said, "Sony Mobile remains dedicated to the US market and aims to build a sound and stable business in this region. Verizon is a strategic partner as we continue having ongoing discussions together as part of our future portfolio."

The Sony Xperia Z4v was supposed to be the modified Xperia Z4 for Verizon. Since its unveiling however, both Sony and Verizon have not spoken about the product, as noted by CNET.

Despite the fall of the Xperia Z4v, which was not even given a price tag at the time of its unveiling, Sony Mobile is now preoccupied with its Xperia Z5 family.
