Swedish Royal Pregnancy: Princess Sofia, Crown Princess Victoria To Give Birth In 2016! Royal Swedish Court Excited To Welcome New Throne Successors

Good news, royal watchers! The Swedish royals, Princess Sofia and Crown Princess Victoria, are pregnant and expected to give birth in 2016. While Victoria is pregnant with her second child with husband Prince Daniel, former glamour model-turned-royal Sofia Helllqvist is expecting her first child with Victoria's brother Prince Carl Philip.

On Thursday, the Royal Swedish Court announced through a statement posted on Facebook that Prince Carl Philip and his wife Princess Sofia are expecting their first child in April. According to Daily Mail, Sweden's newest royal couple is very much excited and looking forward to meet the heir or heiress next year.

"'We are so happy and excited to announce that we are expecting our first child. We are very much looking forward to it,' says Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia," the written statement on Facebook read, as per Us Weekly. "The birth is expected to take place in April of 2016. No changes in the schedule of The Prince Couple's public engagements are planned during the fall of 2015."

Aside from Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip, who got married in June, the prince's elder sister, Crown Princess Victoria is also pregnant and due to give birth to her second child in March.

This year, it appears that the Swedish Royal family has been blessed with more throne successors. In fact, Princess Sofia's sister-in-law Princess Madeleine has just christened her four-month-old son Prince Nicolas, who was born days after her wedding, last weekend. And now, she and her other sister-in-law Victoria are also expectant moms.

Prior to their baby announcement, Prince Carl Philip, 36, and Princess Sofia, 30, have dated for five years before tying the knot in June, E! News revealed. However, their relationship has also been deemed a controversial one, thanks to Sofia's reality TV and glamour modelling past.

Initially, Prince Carl Philip's relationship to Princess Sofia in 2010 has raised some eyebrows after a photo of his wife's 20-year-old self posing topless in a pair of camouflage print bikini bottoms and clutching a snake to preserve her modesty emerged. However, she has gone out of her way to tone down her image. Her husband, on the other hand, has also his fair share of controversies, not to mention his infamous "2012 wild summer."

With Princess Sofia and Crown Princess Victoria's pregnancies, it appears that the Swedish Royal family is expanding their brood. Congratulations to the royals!
