Pebble Time Upgrade: There Is A More Easy Way To Respond To Texts & Emails

Pebble will be making the lives of those people who most of the time use and send emails and texts messages easier. Pebble Time, Time Steel and Time Round are all getting an upgrade, and this update gives the wearables the ability to respond to emails and text messages using voice.

Pebble is now letting third-party developers add voice dictation to apps. According to Engadget, the company teamed up with Nuance Communications, a software technology corporation, to release a Dictation API to developers to build apps for iOS and Android.

It is still not clear if they will be able to add more advanced voice commands but for now, the support is limited to emails and texts. The Verge learned that the support was launched to Pebble Time and Time Steel on Thursday, Oct. 15, and will arrive to Time Round on Nov. 8.

"The value of a smartwatch is directly connected to its overall aesthetics, fit, and intuitive functionality. Pebble is committed to offering not only a variety of smartwatches that blend into individual lifestyles, but also to expanding the usability of Pebble smartwatches world-wide through frequent software upgrades," Kean Wong, vice president of Software Engineering at Pebble, said in a statement.

He added that creating the voice capabilities accessible to developers will aid in the growth of Pebble app ecosystem, MarketWatch reported. It would not just benefit the company, but more importantly, the users.

Scott Taylor, Nuance's senior vice president of devices, stated that making the Dictation API available to Pebble developers will benefit the consumers in a way that they would be able to connect without having to look down at their smartphones.

Pebble created Time, Time Steele and Time Round, with the primary goal of making these devices enhance, simplify and blend into their consumers' lifestyle. This goal is within their reach with the help of Nuance, whose technology, application and services transform the way people interact with devices and systems.
