Rumors circulated over the weekend that Portia de Rossi wanted a child, but Ellen DeGeneres’ refused to the idea, fuelling speculations that the celebrity couple are heading to a divorce.
CelebDirtyLaundry has learned that Ellen DeGeneres' affection for Kim Kardashian’s daughter, North West, when the "KUWTK" star and her daughter recently appeared on her talk show “Ellen,” could have fooled everyone that the host of the show likes children. Her supposed fondness for North left everyone wondering if Portia de Rossi was able to persuade her wife to change her mind about adoption or having a sperm donor and gestational surrogate.
Apparently, for the celebrity couple, having a child won’t happen anytime soon as an insider close to the two told Star magazine via CDL that behind close doors Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi were having a “difficult year” in their relationship.
Rumor has it also that the couple’s constant squabble led to the “Scandal” actress' drinking problem. Sources revealed in May 2014 that De Rossi checked into Passages Malibu and finished a 30-day alcohol and drug treatment program.
Classicalite has learned the voice behind the titular fish in Disney’s “Finding Dory” explained why she did not want kids on the “Today show” last spring. DeGeneres stated at the time she was scared that they would end up being an enormous disappointment to her.
E! News reported the talk show host said that having a child entails long-term commitment. It’s a huge responsibility that she can’t risk.
She added, "What if it turns out that it's not as cute as I wanted or as talented? I'm gonna compare it to all these kids that I have on this show that are so smart and so funny. And I'm like, 'You are nowhere near these kids I had on today.'"
And it's not just about having a child that caused their lover's quarrel. It appears that Portia de Rossi's revived career — she has been promoted to series regular as Elizabeth North in "Scandal" — pissed Ellen DeGeneres. In the past, the seasoned actress has put off her career, while Ellen's popularity rose.
Meanwhile, Ellen sat down with Howard Stern on the radio show “Sirius XM” last September and refuted gossips about her marriage to Portia de Rossi. She said they were not living separately and were not headed for a messy divorce, as per Huffington Post.
"We really don't almost break up, we don't fight, we're madly in love, and I guess it's boring," she ended.
