Former ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ Star Kim Zolciak Undergoes RISKY Surgery After Stroke?

Kim Zolciak underwent a successful heart surgery and to let her fans know, she took to Instagram and posted a picture post-operation.

According to ABC News, after suffering a mini-stroke when she was in Atlanta, Ga. last month, she was quickly rushed to the hospital to get treatment.

She captioned her Instagram post with, "My [heart] surgery was a success!! I can't wait to be back on my feet 100%! Glad it's over! Quite the whirlwind this last month has been...but such a blessing too."

The incident happened when the former "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star said that the "left side of her body went completely numb and her speech was gone."

Zolciak said, "It was a blessing in disguise, the minor TIA revealed that I have a PFO, which is like a hole in your heart. I was born with it and it never closed. That's what caused it, basically."

As reported by US Magazine, the reality star scheduled the operation and the doctors found out that she has a heart condition while treating her. However, she has since assured her fans that she was okay immediately and was released the following day.

As for her treatments, it was reported that it's either she take blood thinners for the rest of her life or undergo a risky surgery — which luckily, was a success.

Furthermore, the mother of six thanked her family especially her husband, Kroy Biermann, a professional football player for the Atlanta Falcons. She also thanked her friend Niki Toney-Pressley and the amazing team of doctors and nurses for their continued support in her recovery.

In a similar report by People, she also said that doctors found a blood clot which either came from her leg or pelvis. She said, "Most people have a filter so it can't cross over to the other side of your heart, but because I do have a valve - they call it a hole, but it's more like a valve that never closed when I was born - the blood clot was able to transfer and go through the hole, which stopped oxygen to my brain on the right side of my brain."

Due to her condition, she was eliminated on "Dancing With the Stars" but fortunately, she is keeping her head up and said in a post, "I practiced for hours Saturday I was so excited to be there tonight!"

Zolciak captioned a video with her pro partner, Tony Dovolani, at the time. "I just needed a few more days and then I'm cleared to fly! #ImReallySad #ImStrong."
