‘Gotham’ Season 2 To Become Very ‘Wong’ - FOX Network Announced ‘Jurassic World’ Actor B.D Wong Joining The Show As The Villain Hugo Strange

"Gotham" is about to become very Wong because the show just announced that it added acclaimed actor B.D Wong to portray Batman villain, Hugo Strange.

As reported by Superhero Hype, following the announcement earlier this week that "House of Cards" actor Nathan Darrow has joined the cast of Gotham as Victor Fries, FOX now added that B.D Wong of "Jurassic World" fame has also joined aboard and will play the villain, Professor Hugo Strange.

The reports are saying that the characters fans will see in the series was described as appearing "altruistic, but he harbors a dark secret" which will make him "Gotham's greatest threat." Originally, the character appeared in Detective Comics #36, pre-dating a number of other high-profile Batman villains and going on to become the first super villain to figure out Batman's true identity.

GASPS! But wait, Batman is still a young person on the show, so definitely his threat would come in other form.

According to Screen Crush, the show will feature B.D Wong in a recurring role as the character, and he will conduct heinous and gut-wrenching experiments on inmates and testing extraordinary abilities in order to create superhuman folks for the same Wayne Enterprises "Indian Hill."

On the other hand, SC added that it's amazing to see the show thinking outside the box and breaking traditions by casting the often portrayed Caucasian Hugo Strange by using an Asian actor. Furthermore, they added that what is an actor of B.D Wong's caliber doing on what they described as an otherwise, clueless show.

To clarify the point, "Gotham" recently acknowledged that it has no idea what it is doing with Harvey Dent's character.

When asked where the character is, executive producer John Stephens said, "We're not playing any full Harvey Dent stories right now, but he's a part of our world, that's for sure."

But still, it's of interest to see the show moving into more recognizable Batman characters like Mr.Freeze and Hugo Strange.

In a related note, Den of Geek reported that Mr. Freeze is currently "as cold as ice" on the show because as of now, no details on when he will appear on "Gotham" are available.

It seems that this new season for "Gotham" is putting in a lot of new yet familiar faces. Case in point, Paul Reubens, known for playing Pee Wee Herman, will reprise his role from "Batman Returns" as the Penguin's father.

Catch "Gotham" season 2 Monday nights at 8:00 pm ET/PT on Fox.
