"Limitless" the TV series apparently not only pays homage to the movie it was based on, but also on popular classics such as the '80s hit movie, "Ferris Bueller's Day Off."
According to the New York Post, tonight's episode, entitled "Brian Finch's Black Op," was created by showrunner Craig Sweeny, who is known as a long-time fan of the 1986 John Hughes movie that starred Matthew Broderick, Mia Sara and Alan Ruck.
As reported, Sweeny said in an interview that he loved the movie because it was so mischievous and broke the way movies are supposed to be made. According to him, he thinks that series shares the same sense of humor featured on the movie, thereby making a sort-of-tribute episode, a perfect match.
"Limitless'" latest episode will feature an almost shot by shot remake of the movie's opening scene, with Brian faking an illness in order to take a day off and enjoy his newly acquired personal supply of the brain-boosting drug, NZT.
But unfortunately, his aim to have a day-off that would make Ferris Bueller proud, was halted. According to Sweeney, Brian ends up getting kidnapped as he has been "loaned" to the CIA to be used in an operation.
Furthermore, Sweeney was quoted, "The conceit of the episode is [that] the homage is all filtered through Brian's head - because even after he's been taken into this very serious and dangerous situation, he still is sort of clinging to the fantasy."
In a related report by Design & Trend, last episode, we will see the show's main character being hounded by none other than Bradley Cooper, who is back as Senator Eddie Morra.
It has almost become a routine for the show to pick up where it left off. Rebecca now knows that her dad was also taking NZT and being monitored by the FBI.
It turns out, that Conrad Harris, albeit definitely belonging to the lower-class, was spending a lot of his time at a rehab facility in a rather classy Upper East Side.
We also saw in the episode Brian checking in the New Springs rehab to pretend to get treatment. But as he leaves, he starts to experience blurry vision and ringing in his ears — which is rarely a good thing.
Moreover, Vulture said that although this episode is not exactly the best of the season, Bradley Cooper's guest spot is enough to make you want to watch it.
