England International soccer players can be banned under new code of conduct

The England Football Association is going to implement new code of conduct for England soccer stars, according to FA chairman David Bernstein. The new rules will likely be launched before England faces Sweden on November 14th.

The latest controversy that surrounds the English soccer team was left-back Ashley Cole who sent insulting Twitter messages to the FA. Cole provided evidence to support his Chelsea team-mate and former England captain John Terry, who was found guilty of using "racial slurs" to insult QPR defender Anton Ferdinand by the independent commission of FA. Terry was banned for four matches and given a fine of £220,000. After his evidence was being questioned by the FA commission, Cole wrote on his account "Hahahahaa, well done #fa I lied did I, #BUNCHOFT***S" on his Twitter account.

Although he later deleted the message, Cole's message has already been retweeted for more than 20000 times. Cole, who has 98 caps, went to meet Bernstein and apologized personally, but it is likely that he will be punished by FA and his own club for breaking its social media policy.

The FA is following the footsteps of the England national rugby as well as cricket teams, who have taken strong actions against stars who had off-field disciplinary problems. Kevin Pietersen, the former England cricket captain, was dropped from the cricket team after sending text messages to the South African team with insulting languages that criticize his own teammates.

According to Bernstein, the FA will warn International players who "bring the integrity of team or themselves or the organization into question". England soccer players can also be banned from playing for their own country "under significant circumstances".
