Magic Johnson On Charlie Sheen's HIV Revelation: 'Educate The World'

Magic Johnson announced his support for fellow HIV-positive celebrity, Charlie Sheen. After Sheen announced that he is indeed positive on the virus, Magic tweeted his support and encouragement for him. As reported by Huffington Post, Johnson said on the tweet, "I wish @CharlieSheen and his family the best, with the advancement in treatments and medicine he can fight this disease and live a long life."

If fans may recall, way back 1991, Johnson had to put his NBA career to a halt when he announced that he is positive for the HIV virus.

And since then, he has been one of the biggest advocates of raising awareness and finding cure for the dreaded disease. According to reports, Johnson raised over $20 million for HIV/AIDS funding through his Magic Johnson Foundation.

As reported by The Source, with now another high profile celebrity announcing his personal battle with the disease, Johnson hopes that Charlie Sheen joins him in educating the world about HIV/AIDS.

Before he broke the news regarding his ailment, Magic Johnson was one of the best NBA players in the league at the time. Johnson was one of the unique players who entered the league. Standing with a height of 6'9, he was rather tall for the point guard position.

He was one of those rare players that combined height, sharp court vision, amazing ball handling and finesse. His opponents were clearly outmatched.

And he used his gifts well because it resulted in him winning 5 NBA championships. When he retired due to HIV, he was hailed as the best Laker and point guard that ever played.

However, a new point guard is making noise in the league and it's none other than reigning MVP and NBA champion Stephen Curry.

According to ESPN, the Golden State Warriors guard went off to a good start as they are currently at the top of the NBA with 12 wins and 0 loses.

Currently, he is the leading NBA scorer with 34.2 points per game and he is just dominating the three-point line.

And although he does not have the same passing ability like Magic Johnson, Curry's assist isn't bad by any stretch because he averages 5.8 dimes per game.

In addition, he may not be as tall as Magic, but their ball handling skills and basketball IQ are comparable, leading to some sports analyst to call him the best point guard since Magic retired.

However, although the comparisons are nice, they are still different players who are great on their own means.

As it stands, there will never be another Magic Johnson.
