The 2016 Toyota Prius Review: The New Prius Makes Going Green Look Good

The 2016 Toyota Prius isn't just a good hybrid car; it's actually one of the top cars in production right now.

As reported by Drive, the latest green car from Toyota has been the "poster child" for green motoring ever since the start of its production.

It seems that it's not letting go of that title soon because when the Japanese auto maker debuted the latest iteration of the Prius, it also debuted the company's "Toyota New Global Architecture" or TNGA for short.

The TNGA is reported to be the blueprint of Toyota for all of its forthcoming vehicles. But what is TNGA? It is the company's "way of thinking" with regards to design, including new underpinnings like suspension and floor plan.

The 2016 Toyota Prius powertrain will consists of an updated version of the 1.8-liter engine that can give at least 71 horsepower and 142 N-m of torque, paired with a 53-kilowatt electric motor.

In addition, the new hybrid vehicle will sport an updated version of Toyota's continuously variable transmission. Moreover, the car will also sport a new lithium-ion battery pack, wherein its 15 kilograms lighter.

As for the fuel economy, Toyota engineers declared that it can potentially give an output of 60 miles for 2.5 liters of fuel.

Car Scoops reported that the car is not only environmentally friendly, but budget friendly as well. As noted, the new Prius base model will cost about $24,200 while the top-of-the line model will cost about $30,000.

According to The Verge, the vehicle will not only appeal to those who are environmentally conscious, but for those who are also looking for a car with style.

Sure they can get a Tesla model, which costs a lot. But for a lesser price while also looking beautiful, the Prius is the best option for you.

As noted by the report, the new interior is clean and fresh coupled with a sharp and angled exterior. Inside, the driver's seat would give you a commanding view of the road ahead, with huge windows providing great visibility.

Furthermore, a minimalist but effective center-mounted dash provides the driver what the hybrid battery system is up to, in addition to the car gauges.

The top-of-the-line variant is also reported to sport an elegant two-tone leather seats, which not only looks good, it's also very comfortable.

But one concern is its control infotaiment system that is adequate, but a bit boring in the design. And surprisingly, it does not feature Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

But the consensus remains the same, the 2016 Toyota Prius is not boring anymore.
