Jeremy Lin suffered an ankle injury thereby making him questionable for tonight's game against the Golden State Warriors.
As reported by CBS Sports, Linsanity emerged from their last game's win against the Bucks with a sprained ankle. As noted, the Charlotte Hornets will wait until Wednesday shoot around to get a look at the injury before making a call on his status.
As of this month, Lin is averaging 10.3 points and 2.9 assists per game. If the young guard does not play in their upcoming game, the team will likely turn to little-used Brian Roberts for minutes off the bench. Moreover, Jeremy Lam could also see an increased time as Lin as spent considerable minutes at the shooting guard position.
With his injury, comes trade rumors. As reported by Sports World News, despite his otherwise solid numbers, Lin's number is clearly down compared to his previous seasons.
As of this month, the point guard and occasional shooting guard is playing 23.1 minutes per game - his lowest since his rookie days with the Warriors.
In addition to that, his field goal percentage, three-point percentage and assists averages are also the lowest of his career since the 2011-2012 campaign with the New York Knicks.
Despite his dip in productivity, the Charlotte Hornets are currently experiencing a decent start of the season with a record of 10 wins and 7 loses, placing them seventh in the Eastern Conference.
The team also has been hot as of late, winning five of its last six games or six out of eight games.
However, MNR Daily reported that even though Lin's numbers are down, trading him is very unlikely. Sure, his "Linsanity" days are over, but team owner and basketball legend Michael Jordan believes that signing him is one of their best acquisitions in the off-season.
His Airness said, "We just got Jeremy Lin, who I think is going to be our biggest acquisition. His penetration, his shooting capability, his point guard savvy, he can really pass the basketball, his energy about the game of basketball something."
With the owner of the team showing confidence in the player, rumors of a Lin trade is basically squashed.
Moreover, the Hornets sure got the 27-year-old guard for cheap at $4.4 million for a two-year contract. The team's head coach Steve Clifford pointed out that "One of the biggest things, the way the league is going, is that he can play two spots."
Adding that, "So he could both play with [Hornets starting point guard] Kemba [Walker], and then he can play as the point guard.... I've always liked the way that he played, and then, working for Mike d'Antoni, Mike always wanted to find a way to get him on his team again."
