Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan are now officially proud parents to their first baby, Max. In connection with her birth, the couple promised to share to charity 99 percent of Facebook shares.
Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook founder and CEO announced on Tuesday that he and wife Priscilla Chan celebrated the arrival of their baby girl, Max. E! News reported to commemorate the momentous occasion, the 31-year-old billionaire together with his wife wrote a sentimental letter to their newborn daughter and made a grand philanthropic revelation of giving out 99 percent of their Facebook shares — currently around $45 billion to an organization with the aim of "improving this world for the next generation." The foundation is called the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.
Mark Zuckerberg and wife Priscilla Chan also expressed their aspirations for baby Max such that, like most moms and dads, they wanted her to grow up in a better world than today.
People revealed their daughter Max weighed 7 lbs. 8 oz. when she came out to greet the world.
Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan also posted a sweet family photo alongside the open letter. At one point of the statement, the new dad wrote, “Your mother and I don’t yet have the words to describe the hope you give us for the future. Your new life is full of promise, and we hope you will be happy and healthy so you can explore it fully. You’ve already given us a reason to reflect on the world we hope you live in.”
“Max, we love you and feel a great responsibility to leave the world a better place for you and all children. We wish you a life filled with the same love, hope and joy you give us. We can’t wait to see what you bring to this world.”
A few days before Max's arrival, Mark Zuckerberg made known to the public that he would be taking a paternity leave — a couple of months starting immediately after his wife Priscilla Chan gave birth.
He wrote on Facebook that they are making preparations for the arrival of their daughter together with pregnancy portraits snapped in black-and-white taken by photographer Annie Leibovitz.
Prior to the arrival of baby Max, Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan revealed in July that they were pregnant with her after three miscarriages as well as years of trying.
Gossip Cop has learned that the philanthropic couple shared the private information because they desire to “give more people the same hope we felt.”
