iPhone 6c is about to be introduced in the market as reported by various sources. Apple is not confirming anything but MacRumors mentioned that the Chinese tech site TechWeb said that it is coming up with a new phone that's smaller and cheaper, aimed to be released soon.
iPhone 6c is currently on testing and will most likely be sold in the market, alongside the other Apple phone models, according to KGI Securities analyst Ming Chi Kuo. Since the company launched units with big screen display, this would be the first time that they are selling smaller phones again.
Release Date
If rumors and reports around the web were to be believed, it said that iPhone 6c is likely to be introduced in January 2016, and it will be officially put on sale, in the market, the following month. Thus, February 2016 is the expected release date of the new phone.
Design
For the design, The Independent stated that according to what they heard, the model will have the same body of iPhone 5s since the size is probably the same. But on the report of BGR, it says that the body would be metal instead of plastic.
But whether it will be plastic or metal, almost all speculated that it will be available in more color variations like gray, silver and gold. There are also suggestions that the hues could be bright like green or yellow. Plus, another thing that will differentiate it from iPhone 5s is the curved edges, similar to iPhone 6.
Specs/Features
iPhone 6c will come with 4-inch display. And although this size is akin to iPhone 5s, it will feature better internal components. It was rumored that it will be powered by the A9 processor chip that was used in iPhone 6s.
While it may not have the 3D Touch capabilities or Force Touch screen like with the latest unit, Kuo via Apple Insider said that it will have an NFC radio to activate Apple Pay, the payment system that was first seen on iPhone 6. Lastly, the cover glass and camera specification is the same with iPhone 5s.
Pricing
Since this is expected to be cheaper, Apple may roll out the $400-$500 (£260-£330) price range for iPhone 6c. It was made to be less expensive in order to reach consumers with smaller budgets and eventually get into bigger market sphere.
iPhone 6c is definitely the solution to allow the company to enter the budget-phone competitive market. But while its release has yet to be confirmed, this is such an intriguing rumor since Apple just released new models not long ago. And there's also the reports about the iPhone 7, so is the tech giant planning to have two units out in the market at the same time?
