On Thursday, Dec. 3, Nicki Minaj's older brother Jelani Maraj was arraigned in a Long Island hospital on charges of first-degree rape and first-degree sexual conduct against a child. According to ABC7, Maraj was arrested on Dec. 1 but suffered an unknown medical condition, which required him to be arraigned two days later at Nassau University Medical Center.
It's currently uncertain if Maraj entered a plea, but he was released on $100,000 bail, which was reportedly posted by his sister Nicki Minaj. Based on the court documents, Maraj raped the victim, who is younger than 13, several times. While other details were blacked out by the judge. According to Nassau County district attorney's office, Nicki Minaj's brother Maraj is due back in court on Wednesday, Dec. 9, People has learned.
"Mr Maraj's bail was set at $100,000," the District Attorney's office's spokesman told Hollywood Life. "His return date is Dec. 9."
Nicki Minaj's brother made the bail and was released from the Nassau County Jail in East Meadow. Based on the court documents obtained by the celeb news site, Maraj's one count of felony Course Sexual Conduct against a child in the first degree was explained as when a person, "being eighteen years old or more, engages in two or more acts of sexual conduct, which include at least one act of sexual intercourse, oral sexual conduct, anal sexual conduct or aggravated sexual contact, with a child less than thirteen years old" over a period of time not less than three months.
If the accusations against Nicki Minaj's brother are proven true, that means Maraj has sexually assaulted the minor victim more than once and over a period of months.
Meanwhile in August, Nicki Minaj shared a poignant message on Instagram in honor of her brother's marriage to Jacqueline Robinson in Baldwin, New York.
