Ian Somerhalder’s Ex Nina Dobrev Refuses To Work With Nikki Reed’s Husband To Save ‘Vampire Diaries’ From Cancellation? [RUMORS]

The bad blood between exes and former costars Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder appears to blow out of proportion with new reports claiming that Dobrev is not fine working with Nikki Reed’s husband ever again.

According to CelebDirtyLaundry, Nina cannot stomach the thought of having to be on set with Ian following her decision to depart from their CW series "The Vampire Diaries."

And as though that wasn't an insult enough, Dobrev reportedly took a jab at Somerhalder and her former co-workers when she recently opened up about choosing new roles carefully since she now wants projects that will really challenge her artistry. She even wants to take deeper, darker roles as she moves on from "TVD."

On the other hand, Somerhalder is also not pleased with the idea of having to work with his ex once again. He is said to be very relieved that Dobrev refused to return to the series.

However, it appears that Somerhalder should be worried for the show since the ratings have never been fine following Nina's exit. MovieNewsGuide has learned that in light of the disappointing ratings of the show thus far, The CW has given "Vampire Diaries" a different timeslot.

Instead of its usual Thursday airing, the "TVD" Season 7 is moving forward in the Friday timeslot, replacing the recently concluded "America's Next Top Model." The big leap will start on Jan. 29.

The dwindling ratings of the show are said to be the aftereffects of Nina Dobrev's departure from her lead role as Elena Gilbert, leaving Ian Somerhalder's Damon Salvatore with no one.

As per an Inquisitr report, ever since Dobrev left, her fans also stopped tuning in to the series. The drop in the number of viewers is said to be at 33 percent, which is a huge loss for the show.

In the wake of this issue, rumors surfaced that Dobrev might be making a cameo appearance in this season after Paul Wesley, who plays Stefan Salvatore, gushed to TV Insider that Elena's story is still part of the series.

"Elena's still a very big part of the story. Her body's in danger in the first few episodes. And Damon is doing everything he can to make sure it stays safe if and when she wakes up," Wesley said.

But now that Dobrev has refused to come back, can the show be spared from getting cancelled? Will it even get the go signal for an eighth season?

Things are still on shaky ground as of late, and the only way to find out is to follow the path the show is taking from now on.
