After winning 24 games and setting the record for the best season opening, Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors have finally fallen to the Milwaukee Bucks.
In a report by Sports Illustrated, immediately after winning a hard-earned double OT win against the Boston Celtics, the Warriors' tank finally went empty, which resulted into an end to the most dominant way of starting the season.
The Bucks, which entered the game at 9 wins and 15 loses, played with a purpose that showcased a strong performance by Greg Monroe who tallied 28 points, 11 rebounds and five assists. The Golden State's record obviously went 24-1.
Curry and the Warriors started the game slowly and trailed as many as 13 points in the first half. The defending NBA champions made a run in the third quarter to cut the lead to three, but the Bucks is clicking on all cylinders that leaned on Monroe and Michael Carter-Williams.
On the other hand, the reigning season MVP struggled at times from the floor, shooting an atrocious 2-8 from the three and despite his best efforts, Golden State never had the chance to return in the game.
ABC reported that interim coach Luke Walton said, "We didn't have it tonight. That's why it's so hard to do what these guys have done so far. Tonight it caught up to us."
Walton also said, "To me, they [the Bucks] looked like they wanted it a little more tonight. We looked like we ran out of gas" and said that despite still having the best record in the league right now, "losing still sucks."
It should be noted that although he's just filling in for head coach Steve Kerr, the former Laker and two-time NBA champion still managed to win NBA's "Coach of The Month" award.
But despite the loss, Kerr still said that his players should still be proud of their accomplishment adding that, "There's no reason for anyone to hang their heads in that locker room for losing that game. They've been incredible all year, and the losses are going to come."
As reported by SMH, the coach said that it's important for the team to realize that the feat they did was still great and they are now a quarter through the regular season.
Lastly, Kerr said that the Golden State Warriors are trying their best to be an NBA championship team and it will require a lot of work. For now, the team intends to go back to the fundamentals and the basics.
The Warriors are the first team in NBA history to go to a 7-0 road trip and has a combined winning streak of 28 games, if you were to count their last four games last season.
