X-Files Revival: Mulder and Scully Reprise, Which Major Character May Die? [SPOILERS]

X-Files will be given another breath with David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as iconic Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. The new series will bring in new characters and - Chris Carter hints - something bad [Spoiler here!] may happen to a major character.

New details have surfaced such as 'The Americans' Annet Mahendru will Sveta, Giacomo Baessato of 'Graceland' plays the doctor and Joel McHale of 'Community' will be anchor Tad O'Malley. Robbie Amell of 'The Flash', Lauren Ambrose and Bryce Dallas Howard's grandfather Rance Howard will also be on hand.

Duchovny opens up about his return to the series: "The first time around it was one of my first jobs. I was really just trying to keep my head above water artistically. I think me and Gillian coming back at this point in our lives and in our careers... we're much better at what we do now. It was really wonderful, for both of us, to recreate these characters with better skills. We probably don't have as much energy as we use to though... But we don't want to just make more episodes because we can. I'm not interested in that. If Chris is re-inspired to start thinking about where to take the show and the characters next I'm sure we'd all listen."

On her part, Anderson had a few thoughts to express: "I had this locked sense of her that is stuck somewhere in those early episodes. So I had to get out of my head the idea that I didn't seem like her at all, because this was the grown-up version of her."

She says of her being Dana Scully the first time around: "We were so young! What's interesting is that I kind of knew at the time. I was as inexperienced as Scully was. I didn't feel grown up in my body."

Carter also reveals that the revival will provide a taste of a "very new political environment. On the matter of the direction for the main characters, he says: "[Modern] television asks that you kill off a main character very quickly. I can tell you that... well, I'm not going to tell you!"
