Game of Thrones Author George R.R. Martin Says 6th Book Will Not Be Finished Ahead of HBO TV Series

The popular Game of Thrones author, George R.R. Martin, has recently revealed that the latest book to the popular HBO and franchise series will be delayed. Martin says, "... the book's not done".

The sixth book, a novel titled The Winds of Winter, was supposedly meant to be released along with the franchise's TV series launch in April. The much awaited book, in the A Song of Ice and Fire series, will not make the scheduled release which should have been published before the popular HBO TV Series airs.

Martin did explain that there is a lot of content written in the book:

Hundreds of pages. Dozens of chapters

However, he claims he is not finished yet and may be months away from completion of the book.

He recently announced that he was very disappointed that he missed the deadline and that everyone else is disappointed as well. He pointed out that his publishers and editors, as well as HBO are disappointed. But above everyone else, he claims that he is much more disappointed with himself.

He promises that the book may be finished in a few months - only if the writing goes well for him:

If truth be told, sometimes the writing goes well and sometimes it doesn't, and that was true for me even when I was in my 20s.

HBO's sixth season based on Martin's books is already synced with his storyline. This will be a new twist being that the readers are always much more knowledgeable and ahead of those who watch the TV series. Martin admits this will be a tad different when HBO TV series fans are much more advanced in terms of the plots.

However, he cautions that the book and the TV series are going to be different from each other, as reports have indicated.

Some of the 'spoilers' you may encounter in season six may not be spoilers at all... because the show and the books have diverged, and will continue to do so.
