Samsung Galaxy S7 – Specs Leaks Before Launch Date

Samsung is set to unveil its Galaxy S7 in just a few months but important leaks about its specs are already starting to get to the press.

This new device may travel a rough road. Its predecessors, the Galaxy S6 Edge and the Galaxy S6 were supposed to improve on the Galaxy S5's sales performance. However, Samsung offered a discount on its flagship mobile and slashed its prices to induce more sales.

A number of analysts observed that while Samsung's mobile department performed quite well during the last quarter, the company's profits did not come from flagship sales.

This current Samsung device is the seventh phone in the firm's Galaxy S line. A report from Android Central said that the expected launch date is set on February 2016 in Barcelona, Spain, at the Mobile World Congress.

However, the report said that they are not expecting Samsung to unveil just one phone, but several mobile devices. It predicts that there may be at least three versions of the S7 that will be available once the announcement is made.

The news report also added that the S7 will be built on the S6's specs. But unlike the S6 which is equipped with a 16-megapixel camera, the S7 will only have a 12-mp camera.

It seems that this is not the only camera change in Samsung's current mobile device.

"Samsung's Semiconductor division has been touting the low-light advantages of its new BRITECELL sensor layout, so it will be interesting to see if it is willing to gamble its new flagship phone on the technology," says David Cardinal of Extreme Tech.

BRITECELL will probably replace the Bayer array sensor layout with a WRBW or rows of white and red alternating with white and blue. Cardinal says that this will be a bold move for Samsung because such experiments of a new sensor layout in smartphones have not been successful.
