Family Threatens Lawsuit After Snake Bite At Disney Park

An Alabama family has threatened to sue Walt Disney after claiming that an escaped snake from Disney's Animal Kingdom has fallen off a tree and bit their boy last October 2014. They further claimed that it has caused the death of boy's grandmother.

The family's attorney, Matt Morgan, during a news conference, said he will file a formal lawsuit against Disney for the boy's injuries and for the wrongful death of the grandmother. The attorney further said that the snake has escaped the park and went to an area for visitors. The grandmother has witnessed how the snake bit the boy. The incident has caused her to go through cardiac arrest. She eventually died two days later.

On the other hand, Disney spokeswoman Jacquee Wahler says the allegations mischaracterize what happened. Although Disney has confirmed to CBS affiliate WKMG that the boy was bitten by a snake at the park, the entertainment park says the snake was wild and was not part of an Animal Kingdom exhibit. It was also a nonvenomous one. They further explained that there was "no call for an ambulance for the grandmother after the incident."

Disney also says after the boy was treated with a Band-Aid by the park nurse, the family returned and enjoyed the rest of their day at the park.

Disney said "these allegations are an utter mischaracterization of the facts."
