Burger King Adds Hot Dogs To Their Menu

Wait, what? Yes, you've heard that right. Burger King is introducing hot dogs on its menu.

Burger King is going to offer hot dogs in over 7,000 domestic locations and to kick it off, it will start with select locations on February 23.

This kind of news is quite new for the burger chain which strays far from its patties. The hot dogs will be grilled on the very same flame grills as the company's signature burgers. These hot dogs will come in two different varieties.

One is called the Classic Grilled Dog. The Classic Grilled Dog is topped with mustard, chopped onions, ketchup, and relish cased in a bun.

The second is the Chili Cheese Grilled Dog. This one is topped with shredded Cheddar cheese and, of course, chili on a bun.

What's more sweet sounding than hot dogs on the grill? Before you start drooling over Burger King's new addition, the recommended price is at $1.99 for the Classic Dog and $2.29 for the Chili Cheese, but prices may vary in different locations.

Burger King has issued a press release regarding the new additions to their menu. Alex Macedo, president for North America, explained that it just makes sense for the company to open up this new food item.

"The introduction of Grilled Dogs just made sense to our guests and for our brand. We're applying over 60 years of flame-grilling expertise with the Whopper sandwich to make Grilled Dogs the next great American icon," says Macedo.

The hot dog is supplied by Oscar Meyer and has already been tested in five different markets last year - which obviously showed success due to the expansion to different branches nationwide.

If the launch becomes successful, it will make Burger King the largest food-chain and restaurant company to sell hot dogs.

The press release also stressed that they want to disprove the myth that "hot dogs should be relegated to summer barbecues and baseball games."
