It's only natural to desire favor from your boss. This desire is fueled by the fact that bosses are key towards the shaping of one's career and work turn out.
So whether you are new, or have been toiling around for some time, the following tips help on how to get the boss' favor, without being a brown nose.
If you want to earn your boss' favor, do it transparently and you will earn his trust. Transparency means openness in communications, not leaving any hurts or misunderstandings unresolved, and always keeping him informed about what you are doing and the current status. Ask him about his preferred way of communication and adhere to his wishes.
2. Always stick to his deadlines
Your boss can't do his job without your help that is why he hired you. So, always meet every deadline that he sets, if possible complete it before he expects it to be completed, and you will really earn his favor. But of course, every project must be completed according to his instructions.
3. Don't forget that you are actually working for him, and not for the company
Technically, you are working for the company, but in reality, your everyday work life is closely tied to your boss' duties. In practical terms you are really working for him.
This is especially true if you are working for big companies like Coca Cola, General Motors, Toyota Motors and other global corporations. If you make your boss look good to his superiors, he will certainly favor you with the same kind of treatment.
4. Inform him right away if you are going to miss his deadline
It is better to let him know ahead of time rather than let him expect something that you just can't deliver. In that way, he may give you additional time to complete your task, rather than earning his ire if the work that you have not completed is important in something his boss asked him to do.
