When Can We Expect To See Apple's iCar?

Speculation has been rampant about Apple coming up with its own car, the iCar. But when will it launch?

There have been numerous causes for an Apple iCar rumor. A Ford executive welcomed Apple to the competition. Apple was spied purchasing car related domain names like apple.car, apple.cars and apple.auto in December 2015. Tesla chief executive Elon Musk reportedly talked about Apple's iCar when speaking to the BBC.

Then there were rumors about a new car manufacturing company, Faraday Future, being a front for Apple's manufacture of the iCar. This, along with Project Titan's team tripling in size, and Apple's acquisition of car company veterans and battery experts made everyone think that Apple might actually come up with its own iCar sometime in the future.

The question still remains: When will we get to see it?

Obviously the only surefire way to pinpoint a date is when we hear it from Tim Cook on stage. But until then, many are happy to speculate.

Of these, one prominent conjecture is that by Bloomberg, bravely putting a time frame on the iCar's development, who say that Apple's iCar should be released as soon as 2020, claiming to have spoken to sources close to the topic.

It usually takes car manufacturers from around five to seven years developing a car. Is it possible that Apple might be getting ready for competition with GM and Tesla? Both companies aspire to have electric vehicles traveling over 200 miles on a single charge on the market by 2017.

However, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal, Apple might have changed its 2020 release date plan to slightly closer. The report states that the iCar has been designed internally by Apple, and now aims for a 2019 shipping date after looking into the feasibility of an Apple-branded car for more than a year.
