Jessica Alba’s company sued for For Dishonest Labeling - Again

Jessica Alba's "Honest Co." is the defendant in a lawsuit accused of dishonest labeling and therefore making consumers overpay, filed in Manhattan on Friday, according to a report by Reuters.

The lawsuit was filed by Brad and Manon Buonasera. It cited a minimum of 41 Honest Company products - like children's toothpaste, soap and bubble baths, and laundry detergents as being mislabeled as "all natural" or having "no harsh chemicals (ever!)."

The plaintiffs claimed that the products did contain synthetic and toxic components, and described said products as a "chemical soup."

Honest Co. is the online shopping company that was co-founded by 'Fantastic Four' actress and model Jessica Alba.

The Buonaseras said that Honest Co.'s products have a stunning assortment of synthetic and toxic ingredients.

The Buonaseras are seeking $5 million in damages and they are also trying for the case to be elevated to class-action status for New Yorkers who bought products sold by Honest Co.

The complaint also claimed that Honest Co. has either discontinued or altered ingredients and labels for some of its 41 products.

This is not the first time Alba's company has been sued. In 2015, Honest Co. was the target of a class action suit regarding its SPF 30 sunscreen as reported by TMZ. The sunscreen allegedly caused severe sunburns in its users, although Alba's product line company did issue a statement that attempted to negate the claims. It said that results of tests carried out showed that the product was safe for use and could be used as an 80 minute water-resistant (FDA's highest rating).

The case, in the US District Court, Southern District of New York, is Buonasera et al v. Honest Co., No. 16-01125.
