Hospitality And Tourism Major Gets Ready For Career Fair On Thursday

Hospitality and tourism students from Isenberg School of Management are being treated to an HTM career fair on Thursday. Employers in the same industry are looking to recruit students. Is your CV ready?

From 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Campus Center Auditorium, over 70 companies will be there to browse through talented HTM students. Various hotels including Hyatt, Marriott and Starwood Hotels are just some of the companies that are in attendance.

The event is not only limited to the hotel industry. Restaurant, skiing companies, real estate and other service or hospitality businesses will also be there to offer job and career openings. Positions to be filled are mostly in sales, marketing, accounting and financing.

Meg Lee, a junior HTM and current marketing chair of HTM Career Day explains that everyone will benefit from the event. It's a chance for everyone to network, start looking at opportunities and maybe learn about the companies' backgrounds. Some students may even get the chance to volunteer in certain industries which they can apply in the future as knowledge and skill base. The faculty itself assists the students and even encourages freshmen to attend.

Currently, the HTM Career Day is known to be the largest student-run hospitality job fair in New England. It's been leading its annual career day for the past 42 years and according to Lee, 90 volunteers are responsible for this year's preparation. "Companies are willing to assist and train students for their offered positions," she said.

In order to attend the event, Isenberg students must pre-register. Currently, 70 Isenberg students have already pre-registered and Lee is expecting that about 300 students will attend this year - similar to last year's numbers.

If you're in the Isenberg area, it would be a great opportunity for you to consider.
