Jen's gal pal received flak from her offensive online tweet. Recently, the funny actress tweeted a picture of herself with a clarinet and saxophone on each side. She decided to caption the post: "A Jew with horns." Within the next few hours, Schumer was met with harsh criticism claiming her joke was offensive and wrong.
How did her post spike outrage online? The caption was an offensive description historically. During medieval times, it has been an insulting depiction of Jews having horns. It was a possible translation error that might have sparked the old belief that Jews actually had horns.
"Anti-Semites have used that anatomically inaccurate error to fuel their bigotry and portray Jews as horned individuals, like the devil or Satan," the Gossip Cop story explained. The website continued to say that the untrue imagery being described was later used by the Nazis in their propaganda against Jews. The site obviously did not find her joke amusing and predicted that Schumer will justify her tweet that she is a Jew herself.
True enough, Schumer responded, "I will joke about things you like, and I will joke about things you aren't comfortable with. And that's OK. Stick with me and trust I am joking."
Fans also did not receive the joke happily, replying to her tweet that it was a tasteless slavery joke. This is not the first time Schumer has made the headlines for an offensive joke. At one point she described the movie "Gone Girl" as a story about a crazy white woman who "did what all Latinas do when you cheat on them."
Her online backlash didn't ruin her friendship with Jennifer Lawrence and the rest of the squad. Though the squad did not respond to Schumer's recent controversy, current events show that the squad is fully alive and supporting her.
