Forbes Magazine: Donald Trump is not as Rich as He Claims

Forbes magazine has released its annual list of the world's billionaires and it showed the Republican front forerunner for the White House, Donald Trump slipping behind in the world billionaire's race.

FORBES, a magazine that has spent the past 30 years scouring the globe to find all of the world's richest people published the 2016 ranking last Tuesday with Trump coming in at 324th place. This means more than 200 billionaires had come out ahead of him since 2015 Forbes list where he was on the 121st place.

Shortly after he launched his presidential campaign last summer, Donald Trump sent out a news release boasting that he is worth $10 billion making him the wealthiest presidential candidate.Forbes, however, estimated Trump's net worth at $4.5 billion for the second straight year.

Trump released a statement Tuesday that appeared to dispute that figure.

"I am very honored by Forbes and the number they have given, but they know nothing about my wealth and very little about my great and iconic assets, many of which are the finest of their kind in the world," the former Atlantic City casino tycoon said.

"The wealth I am interested in now is that of the country, and making America great again," he added.

Forbes notes in his report Tuesday that the news outlet has disagreed with Trump about his net worth for 32 years

"Trump admitted to Forbes in September that the magazine had listed his net worth 'too high' in the early years on The Forbes 400 list -- and that in turn it helped him secure financing," Forbes wrote Tuesday.

The magazine has published its list of everyone who has a fortune of at least $1 billion (£717 million). This year 1,810 people made the grade - 16 less than last year - and 190 of those named were women.

Bill Gates is the richest man in the world for the third year running, with a fortune of $75 billion, while Liliane Bettencourt, the 93-year-old French L'Oreal heiress, is the richest woman in the world, with $36.1 billion to her name.

Mr. Zuckerberg, 31, was the biggest winner last year, increasing his fortune by $11.2 billion sending him into the top ten for the first time. While, just 19 years old, Alexandra Andresen, heir to a family fortune built on tobacco, is the world's youngest billionaire.
