The recent news and updates for "The House of Cards" revealed the desire of Frank Underwood to retain his dominance and power. Prior episodes showcased Frank and his struggle to maintain his hold in the oval office as well as controlling his wife.
It goes without saying that as Frank reaches for power, his wife is the one paying the price. Claire is being convinced by the people that surround her to step up the power ladder and go against her husband. However, as Claire aims on getting stronger, Frank is constantly undermining her.
Moreover, as season 4 reigned on primetime, the power couple disclosed to the world that they have the main say in everything. To prove the latter, Claire stated, "The Underwoods are willing to go farther than anyone" as noted by The New York Times.
Looking back, the days did not bode so well for the power couple. The former episodes showcased the rising rift between them. There were even instances where Claire and Frank's relationship faced a point of no return.
On a different note, as Frank Underwood gains control over his enemies and his allies, it stands to reason that he is always one step ahead of them. Meanwhile, owing to his will to dominate, he failed to cherish his wife and the people that have remained loyal to him till death.
On the other hand, there were speculations that the series' showrunner Beau Willimon is leaving for good as noted by The Hollywood Reporter.
