"Jeepers Creepers 3" production reports and updates have remained elusive despite the fact that many fans are clamoring to see the movie. And now with casting rumors emerging online, will the third installment of the horror movie franchise finally happen?
Franchise mastermind Victor Salva has been reportedly working to get "Jeepers Creepers 3" off the ground. Unfortunately, it remains unclear if full production is already underway since a previous report hinted that Salva was finding it hard to secure financing for the film.
The first two installments of the "Jeepers Creepers" franchise have attracted a solid movie fanbase. Thus, it is no surprise if the comeback of the mythical cornfield creature in the upcoming sequel with titled, "Cathedral," is causing a major clamor among horror movie fans.
While production updates and details remain unknown, an interesting post in the IMDb message board of "Jeepers Creepers 3" has hinted new characters will be introduced in the movie. According to the casting information posted on Mar. 10, the cast included the characters of Kenny, Gaylen, Kirk Mathers, Addison and Sheriff Tashtego.
The casting rumors came after the plot and the return of some its original cast were previously reported. According to Latin Post, Jonathan Breck will reprise his role as the Creeper while Brandon Smith will be back as Sergeant Davis Tubbs.
In addition, "Jeepers Creepers 3" is reportedly in active development with production and is expected to commence in Vancouver this year. As for its plot, Salva has previously hinted that the upcoming installment will bring a "new and terrifying chapter from the Jeepers universe," noting the return of Creeper's truck.
"Jeepers Creepers 3 will show events on the last day of the Creeper's twenty-three day feeding frenzy, as the skeptical Sergent Tubbs teams up with a task force hellbent on destroying the Creeper for good," the synopsis of the movie read, as per Bloody-Disgusting. "The Creeper fights back in gory glory as its enemies grow closer than ever before to learning the secret of its dark origins."
The "Jeepers Creepers" film franchise is famous among horror movie fans after it creepily depicted the tale of the iconic villain known as "The Creeper," who goes hunting for 23 days every 23rd spring for human body parts and organs.
Despite "Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral" remains at a standstill with extremely vague details at best, Horror Movies does have a good news to all Creeper fans. In fact, the online site revealed earlier this month that Scream factory will release the previous "Jeepers Creepers" movies onto Blu-ray on Jun. 14, 2016.
Meanwhile, no release date for "Jeepers Creepers 3" has been announced yet. However, rumors have it the sequel might hit theaters sometime in 2017 while filming begins in April.
