Blackberry users will be facing a tricky choice to interact with other users, as Facebook will stop supporting Blackberry and latest Blackberry 10 operating system.
WhatsApp that's owned by Facebook announced in less than a month ago that it will stop supporting Blackberry.
Last week, Lou Gazzola of Blackberry App Ecosystem announced the shift in a blog post stating, "We are extremely disappointed in their decision as we know so many users love these apps. We fought back to work with WhatsApp and Facebook to change their minds, but at this time, their decision stands,"
Facebook explained that today's smartphone sales reached 99.5% that is based on smartphone operating system such as Apple, Google and Microsoft.
Blackberry users will still be able to use Facebook's mobile web version to post and browse content. But without an official client, Blackberry 10 user will have a hard time delivering a practicable user experience. Although Android apps are supported by Blackberry 10 through the Amazon app store.
Considering the fact that customers care about social media, Blackberry could likely lose sales that would undoubtedly take a hit to the company. But on the flip side, Blackberry has long been aiming at more corporate market, and that the lacking of the social media could be less of an issue. Where in November 2015, Blackberry received a wake-up call to which the company revealed its first smartphone that's based on Android "Blackberry Priv".
For the time being, the mobile company platform is showing a decrease in its market share that is beginning to lose its commodity under the mobile platform radar. By the third quarter of 2015, only 0.7% of Americans took use of phones operating Blackberry's platform.
