The Tesla Model 3 is coming this month, and it could be the EV everyone is waiting for.
Tesla has been around for 13 years now, and while it is known to manufacture high-end cars more than anything else, the auto company has decided to create a stand-out EV that is more affordable. While it is inevitable that consumers will compare Model 3 to Model S and X, reports claimed that Tesla's newest car offers noteworthy features for a relatively cheaper EV.
"Tesla is targeting an electric range of 200 miles with the Model 3, which isn't quite as far as its siblings, but plenty of range to commute to work or go on a mini-roadtrip," Tech Radar shared. "As an owner of a 2015 Nissan Leaf rated for 84-miles of range, 200 miles would save me the trouble of having to charge in public for 95% of my driving and let me drive from Tacoma, Wash. to Portland Ore. without stopping to charge."
The outlet continued to compare the Model 3 with Chevrolet's Bolt which will also be released this year. As far as predictions and early reviews are concerned, it looks like both cars are good options. However, Tesla's Model 3 can have the upper hand over the Bolt since its base model costs $2500 cheaper. Apart from the price tag, "if the Tesla Model 3 can have a fraction of the performance and gadgetry of its bigger brethren while maintaining a rear wheel drive layout, that would be enough reason for me to pick it over the Bolt," the report added.
The Tesla Model 3 will be unveiled on at 8:30 pm PT, 11:30 EST, 3:30 am GMT (April 1) and 1:30 pm AEST (April 1) to select owners. The price for Tesla's newest EV will start at $35,000 excluding taxes.
