Disney announced that they are no longer updating Disney Infinity 3.0 for Apple TV, where the development team are currently focusing on the traditional gaming platform.
According to Arstechnica, Apple launched its fourth generation Apple TV just a few months ago, showing to put its iOS style at play to reorganize the home game console market.
Disney Infinity 3.0 which was released alongside the digital media player, has recently dropped support for its Apple TV version, shortening its endorsement to Disney as a legit gaming platform.
Disney said, "The team is currently focusing on the traditional gaming platforms. We are always evaluating and making changes, but there are currently no plans for further updates to the Apple TV version of the game."
Disney Infinity's game play allows players to choose characters from different Disney related stories to complete adventure levels such as Mr. Incredible and Lilo & Stitch. Players will be able to purchase actual figurines to receive additional characters that can be placed on a sensor plate connected to the game console such as Apple TV which no longer supports it.
Although Disney Infinity starter pack is still available for purchase through its retail and online stores at Apple's website for $99.95.
According to a report from Engadget, several players gave out complaints to Disney's decision as they were promised a console-like gaming experience, those who invested at least a $100 to play the game, only came to find out that it wasn't supported anymore.
In Apple's case to promote Apple TV as a gaming console could mean bad for business. Disney's withdrawal after only six months could send a clear message to other gaming developers that Apple TV has no future investment.
However, Apple TV might only lose proposition on the gaming side from other developers. In all fairness, Disney Infinity is a game consists of both combination of hardware and software, where the hardware side could suggest to what drove Disney's decision to drop Apple TV.
