Google And Acer Launches ‘Chromebase’ All-In-One Video Conferencing System

Google and Acer team up to launch a new "Chromebase" all-in-one video conferencing device, and its available for purchase on the Google Store for $799.

According to Slash Gear, Google announced Chromebox for meetings two years ago by introducing its constant updated Chrome OS model for video conferences. Previous hardware consisted of a Chromebox and a camera, where Google required other companies to build their own monitor.

Google's latest announcement offers a complete package of Acer's Chromebase all-in-one feature that runs the enterprise software. According to Engadget, the Acer Chromebase hardware was announced at CES 2016 that has been repurposed to work Chrome for meetings, which is meant for a smaller of two person meetings instead of a larger team conference.

The Chromebase for meetings includes a 24 inch touchscreen display, HD conferencing camera, four microphones and two stereo speakers. Similar to other Chromebox devices, the Chromebase is a dedicated video conference tool that keeps tracks of schedules and Hangouts, which Google Apps included an update to support 25 participants for a video call session.

In addition, the device comes with a new remote management tools, where administrators can use it to receive notification alerts when encountering issues to remotely troubleshoot video or audio quality. Google announced in a blog post stating, "Chromebase for meetings gets technology out of the way, just plug it in, connect it to your network and you're up and running securely."

The Acer Chromebase for meetings can be purchased at the Google Store for $799 which includes a year of management and support fees, and it will be available in the United States, Canada, Ireland, the UK and Australia.
