McDonald's MEGA Potato Fries [VIDEO]: "This is Why You're Fat"? 1142 Calories in $4.84 USD, Only in Japan!

In Japan, they are no longer asking you to super-size your meal. "Mega-size" is more like it.

The fast-food chain that has been blamed for childhood obesity shocked the world by creating Mega Potato, a pouch of french fries that are almost 2 times the size of a large american order. It is the highest calorie item on the menu since the creation of the fastfood chain.

Japan Today comments: "The Mega Potato will set you back 490 yen (about $5) and also cost you a large chunk of your dignity and possibly a few years of your life."

Perhaps this is a food that warrants a picture on thisiswhyyourefat.com. Speaking of which, the Mega Potato Fries is not the first mega-sized menu in Japan: The Mega Tamago (Japanese for egg) is a tall, multi-layered sandwich with three layers of beef stacked with cheese, bacon, and eggs.

However, because of the community lifestyle of Japanese people, the director of nutrition for McDonalds can safely insist that since it is "perfect for sharing", this menu item will not cause many harmful effects to normal Japanese people.

The poster sporting this fried novelty with more than half the recommended daily amount of calorie intake for women, suggests that the fries should be shared amongst 4 people, with the phrase, "Golden crispy fries", "I'm loving' it."
