The 62-year-old Ken Oka of Mira Loma became entangled in a parachute over Riverside County on Saturday, he was unable to free himself and he fell to the ground covered in it.
Last week, reports came of a man named Liam Dunne falling 13,000 feet but survived after a specialist spinal unit was able to treat him. He stayed in a hospital for 10 months. However, Oka did not meet the same fate and had already passed away in the hospital shortly after 3pm.
The skydiving group mentioned that he tried to free himself so that he can decrease the speed of his fall, but he was unable to do so.
According to The Daily Beast, the terminal velocity for a normal human being is 125mph.
The location of the fall was less than 50 miles away from water.
The Federal Aviation Administration is conducting a investigation over this incident.
The skydiver in the video below performed a "death"-plunged, entangled by a parachute, but Youtube commenters claim he was able to survive the fall.
