Must Have Drink For Stressed Out Employees: ‘Just Chill’

By Jane Reed

Stress is part of daily life.

It can be the good kind, that drives you to work hard and end up fulfilled at the end of the day, or the bad kind, that drives you out of your desk so much that you can't wait to get to bed. Whatever kind of stress the modern-day professional may have, it's how you deal with the stress that ultimately determines how well you perform. Which is why Entrepreneur has partnered with Just Chill. Just Chill is a beverage line that is supposed to relax the drinkers and helps them focus on their work without any side effects.

Just Chill spokesperson Alicia Manzur has quoted CEO Max Baumann that describes their brand: "In a world run by caffeine giants, we hope to prove to consumers that you perform at your best when cool and calm, not overstimulated and jittery."

Entrepreneur thought it was too good to be true. However, the history behind the drink is relatable for the average American. When Baumann was in Los Angeles, he saw angry drivers and stressed out people. This hectic scenario drove him to the idea of making a drink that would make people focused and calm.

This sparkling beverage line brings a new meaning to the phrase "Keep Calm."

The drink works because of the patented L-theanine, an amino acid found in green tea that alters the brain chemistry and helps people relax, as explained by LA Times.

To test this, Entrepreneur has experimented with their own stressed-out staff. Here are what some of them said:

1. Editorial Assistant Carly Okyle felt a bit calmer and her anxiety was removed after drinking the beverage. "I didn't have the heart-pounding and muscle tensing I usually do," she says.

2. Director of Innovation Deep Shah felt relaxed. "I'm pretty chill for a Monday at 2 p.m. I can't say I'm all that focused on work or tasks, but I'm focused on lunch for sure," she explains.

3. Editorial Director Dan Bova felt refreshed with the Jamaican Citrus flavored drink and didn't feel weird or spacey at all.

Undoubtedly, there are many energy drinks or calming beverages that are available out there and Just Chill may or may not work for everyone. Entrepreneur staff members have noted that it could also be a placebo effect.

Whatever the case, there are definitely drinks that get you through the day. Care to share yours? Tell us in the comments section!
